Welcome

This month we are launching a new service offering to take the risk out of Custom Application Development. The Quick Start Engagement Package enables you to determine if a Custom Application is what is needed to solve your business and data needs cost effectively.

Historically, businesses have not had the opportunity to purchase this type of package and have sometimes invested thousands of dollars only to find out the developer they hired to produce their custom application or the application itself was not the right solution for their organization -wasting valuable time, dollars, resources and sometimes jobs.

Our Quick Start Engagement Package delivers:

  • Your Vision for the Custom Application
  • How it Will Solve Your Business Needs
  • Your Goals & Requirements for the Custom Application
  • The Strategy for Developing the Custom Application
  • A Storyboard or Graphic Organizer to Visualize Screen Design
  • An Estimated Budget to Achieve Each of Your Requirements
  • An Estimated Timeline for Development of Your Requirements

The cost of our Quick Start Engagement Package is just $1500. When we launch your full custom application project, the $1500 is applied to the total cost of the project.

FNF Construction and SelectBuild are just two examples of companies who have benefited greatly from an itSynergy Custom Application.

With FNF Construction, we developed an application that created insurance premium savings of over $1.5 million and enabled them to plan and estimate job requirements and costs prior to construction launch.

We teamed with SelectBuild, a national subcontractor for large residential developments, to develop StartPro. The StartPro Application allows SelectBuild to manage all the details of pricing and project components for every project - saving hundreds of hours, reducing the time to develop a client quote and serving as a "crystal ball" to forecast various projected scenarios and costs.

Please visit our website at www.itsynergy.com for the complete case studies for FNF Construction and SelectBuild.

Please give us a call today, to discuss how our Quick Start Engagement Package can benefit your data-driven decision-making and business intelligence.

Have a great month!

P.S. Last month I wrote about how we felt it was time for customers to start considering the switch to Windows Vista. For those that are hesitant about making the switch because of what you've 'heard', I thought I'd share this rather humorous little video. Enjoy! http://www.mojaveexperiment.com

Let Me Connect You

Jane Cage, COO, HTS

Not too long ago, the phrase "Let me connect you" would have only come from a telephone operator. Today, it's just as likely to come to my inbox as I receive emails from colleagues, business partners, friends and relatives who want to connect to me through one of today's electronic social networking sites. At age 52, this is a new phenomenon for me. On the other hand, teenagers are completely tuned in to this concept - they all have a Myspace or Facebook account. So, does it make sense in the business world? I decided to find out.

Notes from the Network Engineering Department:

Note to readers: As our network engineers work with all of you across our entire customer base, they observe trends and issues that many people have in common, or that many customers will find helpful to know about.

This section is designed to give them a mechanism to communicate those issues to you, with the hope that YOU might benefit from.

Is your Network Healthy?

OK - we admit it. The Engineering Corner is a little weak this month because we're exhausted!

In case we haven't mentioned it to you yet, Microsoft is releasing a new product this year called Windows Essential Business Server (EBS). The product's sweet spot is companies with 50 to 250 PCs that are too big for a product like Small Business Server, but want to enjoy the advantages of having a system where the integration between multiple Microsoft server products is in the design from the ground up. Additionally, EBS also brings some new features to larger organizations such as Remote Web Workplace, which allows your users to directly access their PC from anywhere in the world using only a web browser.

So what does that have to do with us being exhausted? We have been fortunate to work directly with the Microsoft product/development team in Redmond on this product. We have done two production implementations of the product at real customers, and have a third planned for this weekend. The two we have done so far currently hold the records for the most complex and the largest implementation of this new product done to date.

We have certainly learned a lot from working with this new product, and can pretty safely say we are among a handful of companies in the world that can claim deep expertise in this product. One of the key things our experience has brought us, however, is that Active Directory (the database that is central to all of our customer's networks) is NOT in very good shape in companies this size.

Turns out that EBS is pretty picky when being put into a new environment - it really wants that environment to be in pristine shape before implementation. In fact, a large part of our effort on these projects so far has simply been in getting our customer's environments into this pristine shape so that they are ready for EBS.

The good news is that many of the tools that the EBS team has given us to check an environment's health can be used on ANY network, regardless of whether you are planning on EBS now or in the future. We feel it would really be a worthwhile investment for our customers to have us give their Active Directory an ‘annual checkup' just to be sure that everything is in good shape. Solving these problems now can REALLY help to save some headaches down the road.

Fear not! The doctor is IN. Give us a call today so we can schedule your Active Directory check up, and head off future problems BEFORE they occur!

4 Common PC Problems You Can Fix Yoursel

By Kim Komando  Microsoft Small Business Center

Computer problems may seem immensely complicated at first glance. But some are relatively easy to fix.

That doesn't mean they will be cheap if someone else does the job. Replacing a hard drive is probably a minimum $250-$300 job at a computer shop.

However, some jobs can be done by the average Joe or Jane. On a scale of 1 to 10 (where 10 should only be performed by certified technicians who have no less than three electronic gadgets on their belt), replacing memory is usually about a 4. Installing a new hard drive is tougher (about 6 or 7), but still do-able. Replacing a video card or internal modem is no more than a 2.

A word of caution: Static electricity can kill the circuitry inside your computer. Before you reach for anything inside that box, ground yourself by touching the metal computer frame.

Here are four common PC problems you may be able to fix by yourself:
